Bine's First Christmas

We've been without internet for the last several days. It is now about 4 AM and I'm doing another "Whoa, we have a connection...I'd better take advantage of it!" post.

We spent a couple of days over Christmas at our friend Dan's house on the western end of the island, away from nightclub music and firecrackers. It was heavenly. We feasted and played and relaxed. Dan doesn't have television or internet (without even paying to not have it, like we do). I devoured two whole (short) books and got a little sun. John Arne read about boat building and didn't touch a hammer once. We ate ham and turkey and chocolate. Heavenly.

Beyond being Bine's first Christmas it was also the first time any one of us had spent Christmas with any other person there. And it was the first Christmas in Dan's new house, and we were the first people to stay in his guest room.

As anticipated, Bine preferred the foil wrapping to the gift Dan gave her.

Christmas Eve sunset. Dan's house is the best place to see sunsets on the whole island.

Hey, that looks like a nice celebration. And Dan's house looks great! Some degrees warmer at your celebration than up here in cold Norway - but it is the same cozy christmas spirit - I can see it :-)

Hello and happy new year from cold Norway! It seems that you had a nice xmas. We celebrated with mum and Aleksander. Afterwards we went to Hafjell and had some nice days there skiing. Today we are at home.
Hope you have a jolly good newyears eve as well.
Love from Sidsel & family with grandma Hansine
