HQTV Tonight

John Arne and I are watching HQTV (Head Quarters Television), the "Utila Tonight" program on the rock. It's a busy evening. Here are a few of the hot topics:

*NO MORE UNDER-AGE DRIVING. One young girl called in and asked, "Even golf carts?" Yes, even golf carts. Police will confiscate vehicles and parents will have to pay fines.

*A beak whale washed up on the beach. It is stressed that whales are NOT FISH, even though the camera man said they are. Lots of people showed up to see the whale, and some wanted to take it home to eat it. The results of the autopsy will be revealed on Monday, but it may be that the MAMMAL, NOT FISH, died from ingesting plastic. The host, Shelby, says that there are all kinds of whales...including dolphins, for example.

*Police are cracking down on drinking and driving. One man called in to ask if that means golf carts, too. Answer: Yes. Too many kids are crashing their motorbikes and one even had to have his jaw rebuilt. Shelby said parents need to hit their kids with a stick so that they listen, if necessary.

*Kids are lighting firecrackers stuffed with rocks near the bridge and they are hitting houses. This is bad.

*A lot of songs were sung at church on New Year's Eve. One of the local trannies wore a nice black and white smock to the service.

This is my favorite show EVER.
